Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim believes the Red Devils were the better team. But it was Tottenham who prevailed in the Carabao Cup.

“We didn’t have the ball going at the start of the second half, which was difficult. But if you watch the whole game you can see we were the best team on the pitch. But they were sharper.” Amorim said after the game.

“I think we controlled most of the game, played the same way and tried to find space,” 

“We lost, but the fight from the players was really important for me. Tomorrow I will think about the game again and I can talk about a lot of things.”

Asked if United were controlling the game, Amorim replied: “Of course. You could feel it on the pitch. We played comfortably, had possession. It wasn’t the final pass. But the goal that was the problem.”

Amorim attributed his team’s defeat to a lack of cohesion in the first 10 minutes of the second half and told Sky Sports: “We disconnect in the beginning of the second half. It was a tough moment for us, like 10 minutes. And then we return, I think we did a great job. I think if you look at the game, I think we were the best team. But they [Spurs] were more clinical. We lost the game but the fight from the lads was really important for me.”
